Beta-alanine at micromolar doses specifically evoked Ca(2+) influx in cells expressing the receptor. Beta-alanine decreases forskolin-stimulated cAMP production in cells expressing the receptor, suggesting that the receptor couples with G-protein G(q) and G(i)
